Renowned Macedon Lodge on the market for immediate sale

FOR SALE - Victoria's preeminent thoroughbred training facility

VICTORIA’S preeminent thoroughbred training facility is available for purchase, with Inglis Rural Property and Land, Agribusiness, Water and Development (LAWD) exclusively engaged by Advise Transact’s Mark Wizel to manage the immediate sale on behalf of the Williams family.

Situated under the southern periphery of Mount Macedon, just 45km from the Melbourne CBD and 20 minutes from Tullamarine Airport, the property lies in one of the state’s most picturesque locations and has housed elite racehorses and Melbourne Cup winners including Zipping, Fawkner, Efficient and Green Moon, amongst others. Its unrivalled position also ensures an ideal climate of mild winters and cool summers.

In a statement, racing luminary Lloyd Williams said he was ready to sell the magnificent training precinct.

Inglis Rural Property Director, Jamie Inglis, said Macedon Lodge presented a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to access one of the most prestigious and workable properties to come onto the market in Australia’s history.

“Every element of Macedon Lodge has been purpose built to enhance the wellbeing and preparation of the thoroughbreds trained there,” Mr Inglis said.

“There is also staff accommodation of five apartments, two semi-detached homes, a caretaker’s flat and proprietor’s apartment above the main stables, so this really is an opportunity too unique to miss.’’

LAWD Senior Director, Peter Sagar, said the property offered a land parcel of significant size in what is primarily a heavily subdivided region.

“The property, which is largely cleared, features eight individual titles and, under recent local Council revisions, offers further scope to develop for greater accommodation and other uses,” Mr Sagar said.

The Mount Macedon offering will also include an extensive range of horse-related equipment, plant and machinery, and two purpose built trucks for horse transportation.

Facilities and features:

  • Tranquil Australian bushland setting
  • Purpose built site to house in excess of 150 horses
  • Capacity for 80 horses in training at one time
  • 25 grass day yards and 20 spelling paddocks
  • 75m saltwater swimming pool
  • Eight-horse water walker
  • 12-horse walker, equine spas and equine treadmills
  • State of the art solariums and showers for wellbeing therapies

Training tracks consist of:

  • 1,600m uphill gallop track, rising 40m through the middle of the complex
  • 1,000m oval track, both with ‘Pro Ride’ surface
  • 13km of ‘slow work’ tracks and trails that are integrated into the 120-hectare property.
